3 Questions to Pierre Trudeau

I'm writing this blog because I believe the Liberal Party of Canada was once a true Socialist Party with Pierre Trudeau as its leader. What type of questions would a 21st century Socialist like me ask the late great Pierre Elliot Trudeau? What would be his response more importantly? Well that I cannot answer for obvious reasons. The one question that can be answered is what is his well respected son doing in a Party that has lost its way when it comes to social responsibilities? This blog could possibly answer that one, so lets get started.

Question number one. What has happened to a Party that once wanted to regulate Alberta oil? Simple that same Party has become buddy buddy with big oil. Just like its establishment cousins the CONservative Party it now makes deals with big oil companies to steer clear of any confrontation like the ones that happened in the late 70's in Western Canada. Is it Mr Trudeau that your Party has lost its balls when it comes to confronting big multi nationals? Or is it because they never had them to begin with and you revolutionized the Party?

Question 2. Why has your Party from being the biggest supporter of social programs in the past a Party that always kept programs like healthcare, the environment and childcare at the top of the funding list has now become the Party of Chretien, Martin and slashgate? Simple the businesses were up to the Liberal collective chin in complaints that they chose to cut social programs to satisfy their new allies. The re re re elections were coming up and big donors were ready to open up, unless social programs were picked over their big pocket books, then the elites would have turned to their old friend the PC's, but of course the Liberal Party was not going to let that happen were they? Their excuse was the deficit and the debt! Well my friends when you make your own mess you fix it we shouldn't have to take the bill for the corporate elites.

Question 3. Finally my final question would be what would you do to fix the party? A party that once was the face of Canada with you as Prime Minister and is now the rear of Canada because it can't stand on its own two feet. The Conservatives are starting to eat away at your traditional support in urban Canada and in you home province of Quebec the NDP the party you should have run for is finally breaking through.

The current predicament the Liberal Party finds itself would make Mr Trudeau spin in his grave and the fact that his eldest son is now a member of that lost party is truly the sadest thing. A bright and educated person like Justin Trudeau would be the last person I would imagine in that party. He (Justin) just stood by as Ignatieff ripped the leadership from the hands of the Liberal Party members and coronated himself king. One thing I am sure of Pierre never would have stood by and just let that slime ball mock the history and democracy of that once great party, but he did and I lost much respect for him for doing that.

Sad to see you go Mr Tudeau, you were one of a kind. Aurevoir!

HST-The Death of the Liberal Party

The recent passing by Federal Parliament of the harmonization of the sales tax in Ontario and BC might be the climax in the end of the Liberal Party as we once knew it. With leadership problems over the last two years, the ex-leaders wife questioning the party's future and the Martin Cauchon fiasco, the question must now be asked what is the Liberal Party's future in Canadian politics? I know it's the Liberal red machine, but who would have guessed twenty or even ten years ago the party would go into debt or that it would fall to 26 percent? The HST vote next week will be the proverbial fork in the road and which way they vote might impact their legitimacy in future years.

Lets first consider what type of pickle their provincial cousins in Ontario and BC have put Iggy and the gang in. Although the HST has always been Liberal policy the fundamental difference between the Federal and Provincial Liberals is massive. Both Keith Martin of BC and Bob Rae of Ontario missed all three votes in Ottawa. They are not the only ones opposed, Hedi Frey Ujjal Dosanj and other held their nose as they voted for the new tax. In Nova Scotia the Liberal and Conservatives were wiped off the face of the political map by the NDP in what political commentators called a shocking result. Well if they had noticed both the Liberals and the Conservatives supported the HST which not only eliminated peoples income it destroyed the economy.

During the last Federal election Craig Oliver a senior reporter at CTV and a well know Liberal sympathizer wrote an article throwing out there the possibility that the Liberal Party of Canada will be overtaken by the NDP as the left wing party of Canada and that the same party will disapear into oblivion as was the case of the English Liberal Party in the 1920's when it was taken over by the Labour Party. The question was a good one, is the Liberal Party of Canada alienating itself enough from the people that it has the possibility of being overtaken by the NDP? That question cannot be answered by myself, only time can do that, but as we've seen provincially in Nova Scotia the possibility exists.

One thing I do know is that the HST is bad, the income tax cuts are good but to at the same time raise the price of virtually everything else negates all that would be accomplished by an income tax cut. The split within the Federal Liberal Party coupled with the real and honest anger of the people of Ontario and British Columbia doesn't bode well for the Party deemed undefeatable just a few years ago. The base of the Liberals was and has always been the forty hours a week worker not the corporate boss that sits in his or her ivory tower, normal hard working people will undoubably be pissed in Ontario on July 1st when they ring in Canada Day with a brand new tax brought to them by the Liberal Party of Canada and Ontario.

For me the Liberal Party has been on the decline since the late great Pierre Elliot Trudeau left the political scene. Jean Chretien, Paul Martin, Stephane Dion and now Michael Ignatieff have never put Canada first and finally I believe the Party is about to pay a price at the polls that will make Mr Dion's defeat look like a walk in the park.

Now don't get me wrong the Liberal Party is known as the machine for a reason and they can always make a comeback and return to their former glory, but I do not see the love for the Liberal brand as I used to even five years ago. The HST will be the Liberal Party's epitaph and it will read the HST killed the Liberal Party in 2010.

Protectionism Why Not?

Recently United States President Barack Obama visited China on his first trip to Asia as President. There to greet him was Hu Jin Tao the President of the Peoples Republic of China. As per usual had their normal talks on North Korea, Human Rights in China and oh yeah that thing called "free trade". The globalistic chains that enslave us right at this moment as we speak. President Hu began by describing his conversations with the new President. The cordial talks we had, he began were warm in nature and delved into various topics including the economy where we hope we can both "shun Protectionism".

Shun Protectionism? for those who don't know Protectionism is the restraining of free trade by increasing tariffs on foreign goods and restricting quotas as well as other methods to get free trade to stop or at least be limited in scope. Protectionism has been attacked as being anti trade as well as anti union. Here are the facts, I support trade, but if you want to come to my country and trade with my nations businesses, then you have to pay to come in. You do not deserve a free ride beacause you say you will offer jobs and business. We have seen too many times when businesses come to my country and others, make promises and then once the contract is signed, they go back on their word. Prime exanple is in Greece where the port was handed over Chinese Cosco a day before the Greek general elections and now the union nor the government can't do anything, because an anti union party signed the agreement.

As for being anti union, any company associated with free trade and globalization, in my view at least doesn't believe in unions or workers rights. Those companies that promote free trade must be fought tooth and nail by their union to promote fair trade instead. Free trade is another way of saying screw the worker, profit is more important. That attitude must end and must end now, one of the main reasons why Barack Obama was elected President was because he appealed to those workers in the States and elsewhere in North America that loathed NAFTA, and wanted to see changes not only to that treachery but also to other agreements that screwed workers and our country.

If the President goes back on this as he has gone back on Guantanamo Bay then his Presindency will be like Jimmy Carter's, one term. If he takes the Chinese advise and betrays the workers, then he will have hell to pay in November 2012. His vote will erode and the world will be back to the most powerful nation in the world being run by warmongerers(Republican Party). I don't want that and I know the majority of the world doesn't want that either.

All protectionism does is that it imposes taxes on corporations that do not come from this country, both tariffs and quotas would hit its peak, and if you think that is the worst thing we could do, a lot of nations including Brazil and Turkey two of the economy's picked by Forbes magazine 2008 to be the economy's in the world most likely to become powers by 2015. If we want a strong economy, jobs made in Canada, for Canadians by Canadians, then we must adopt protectionism as at least a pilot project for our economic future and well being.

The End of Liberal Democracy In Canada

Now the title might throw some people off. The end of Liberal Democracy in Canada doesn't mean the political ideology is dying or dead, no far from it. It is a play on words describing the illegal crowning of Michael Ignatieff as leader of the Liberal Party and more importantly as leader of the opposition. The Napoleonic self-crowning took but a few short weeks and it stems from my first blog posting. Yes the dreaded Parliamentary crisis of December 2008 created the mockary of Democracy within the Liberal Party of Canada that culminated in Michael Ignatieff becoming leader of the Party and opposition.

It all began that day in December when the Govenor General and the Prime Minister conspired to keep things in order by derailing the coalition. At the time the entire Liberal caucus including Ignatieff that the coalition was the right way to go. Well after the Dion office speach debacle the higherarchy of the Liberal Party decided to act and relieve Stephane Dion, the elected leader of the party and hand over the keys to "Iggy".

The other leadership candidates from the Montreal convention just two years earlier began to question the arrangement including Bob Rae who was the co favorite with Ignatieff both in Montreal and post Dion dumping day. Then a week later after the new year came and went it was decided again by the top brass that there wouldn't even be a vote or possibly even a convention for that matter. It allegedly was decided because of the crucial time period and the possiblity of the government falling.

I began to think, this is not only not the party of Pierre Elliot Trudeau anymore, but it was becoming an anti democratic and unconstitutional party as well. My next question was why would the common Liberal Party member put up with this Napoleonic self-crowning of a leader? Well obviously other party members were asking the same question because a few days later it was announced by the elites in the party, oh yeah and Iggy as well, that there would be a convention Vancouver in April of 2009.

When asked by reporters whether the "only Iggy candidacy" stood, they said it would be up to Bob and the rest to decide that. A week later, one by one fell into the party trap and stood aside as their new king was to be crowned. Except that good old Bob didn't immediately give up on democracy. It took some arm twisting and the fact that the most recent arrival to the party felt like an outsider, thus he wilted under the pressure and jumped on the Iggy bandwagon.

If I was a Liberal Party member I would have torn up my membership once Ignatieff was crowned the new opposition leader. On May 2nd 2009 democracy died in the Liberal Party, Ignatieff was crowned leader of the Party and opposition. It is time for a new generation of people to take over the party and throw out the new king. Oh yeah and once he became the crowned prince of the Liberal Party he renounced the coalition that would have saved Canada from the US styled Neo Cons. Like most times Canadians will now be bombarded by the media elite that the next election is between the Liberal Party and the Conservative Party.

Don't believe the hype, if that is the case then Canada is doomed into going in circles in that garden maze and never getting out. Before this episode the Liberal Party could at least be counted on to show more democratic principles than the protect property don't give money to social program Conservatives who have shown a history of backstabbing good people and politicians. I am afraid that the two Parties are now completely the same in all forms, and the only way to defeat them is to organize and annahilate them as political forces.

I will personally start with the Liberal Party, how will you start? If the people within the Liberal and Conservative Parties don't do it then the people will collectively do it for them. These archaic beliefs don't fly anymore, people in this country should and won't stand for this kind of desecration of our national democracy. I call on all Liberal Party member friends of mine to question this instance in the great history of your Party and think is this the party I joined or is this the party that will eliminate the hardships the Conservatives have caused? I leave it up to you to decide.

Where Have All The Soldiers Gone?

As it is rememberance day soon I would like to pay tribute to those who throughout the years have given life and limb for Canada. I would like to remember every single regiment and division in the Army, Navy, Airforce and all other branches that I haven't mentioned. The question> where have all the soldiers gone is a legitimate one. The question about the actual wars and the reason must at least for remeberance day in my point of view be put aside and forgotten. I will never on the other hand forget the sacrifice and commitment our brave men and women have shown throughout our great history.

In the beginning even though we weren't a country Canadians and new Canadians were dying for this country because they knew how great it could be. The British army, the Quebec Voltaguers and the United Native Nations helped to defeat the United States and kepy Canada free from an expantionist American Government that was out to colonize the whole American penninsula. When we became a nation the Boer war ripped this country apart internally but our men went to war not asking the reason why and died. This is why I take one day out of the year to not question the reason for war because our brave men and woman don't all year round, as a respect to them I in turn respect their commitment. This has continued to this day, and as a small token to their commitment to the nation I must do the same at least for one day.

The First World War was not a great war it was a war in which the masses found out that war was not the great glorious institution it was made out to be, yet they still enlisted on mass when Canada entered WW2. The reasons not to enlist were given by all those experienced the torture of the trenches of Western Europe, and yet those who are rightly called the greatest generation had the guts and the heart to go overseas thousands of miles from home to help keep Europe and the World from falling into the hands of monsters.

The recent years have had peacekeeping missions in Cyprus, Lebanon and more recently in Rwanda and Bosnia who have seen the worst and have come out no better yet have earned the respect and have earned their honour. The war in Afganistan and all the other wars in my point of view are not and will never be the soldiers fault, but they show duty and and great service to their nation by taking the responsibility for the result whether they agree with the war or not. They serve with honour so let us serve them as civilians by not sending them into harms way unless absolutly neccessary. Thank you for reading and please remember our brave men and woman on November Eleventh. Wear a poppy whether you agree with wars or not, it's just the right thing to do.

Lest we forget. RIP to those who haven't lived to see this day AMEN.

E.M.A.S to the Rescue

I have always as an outside viewer been interested in airline safety and what we can all do to protect peoples lives when we get in the air. As a regular viewer of the discovery program Mayday I have always been shocked at the smallest things that cause an airliner to come down. This blog is not about that but about how we can prevent overshootingss of runways. This may shock you but there is a proven way to avoid such disasters from happening.

In August of 2005 in my hometown of Toronto an Air France plane was about to touchdown at Pearson Airport after a long flight in from Paris. It was about 4 O'Clock and all of a sudden the cloudless sunny day became black as if it were midnight. On the ground I had to immedietly turnoff my TV as the thunderclouds appeared out of nowhere. Within five minutes after 4 nothing could be seen in my house or outside. At this same time rain started coming down and I would guess even today visibility was almost zero.

By about 4:30 the clouds had opened up as quicly as they had become black the sun was now shining. As I had turned the TV on I had it on CBC and there was a picture from a highway. At first I didn't know which highway it was, or which city because there was no indication on the network coverage. I had spotted that a plane had crashed but it wasn't untill a few minutes later that I found out it was in Toronto and it was next to highway 401.

After that original shock I saw the scene and imagined that there couldn't be any survivors from this, but miraculously as soon as that thought crepped into my head I started seeing people leaving the highway and entering into cars and leaving the sight. A half an hour later we got the outstading news that everyone on board had survived and thus the incident was forever known as the Toronto miracle. As the investigation got underway, it was obvious the plane hadn't landed past the runway, it had skitted past as it touched down.

The program Mayday talked about E.M.A.S or Engineered Materials Arrestor Systems, which is basically crushable concrete placed at the end of runways to stop Aircraft from overshooting a runway. Currently at Toronto's Pearson International as well as many others in this country do not have the E.M.A.S in place at their airports. I believe it is a must for all International Airports in the world let alone at Canadian Airports to have this system in place.

In the United States both Midway International in Chicago and Burbank Airport in Los Angeles have E.M.A.S. The installations occured after a major overshooting at their respective airports by an airbus. As an interesting sidenote Third Baseman Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees private plane was brought to a successful stop at Burbank using the system on October 13th 2006. The system works, it has proven to do so with real life situations. Although Toronto turned out to be miracle if it had turned out otherwise, this system would have already been put into place and 300 plus people would not be with their families today.

When will humanity learn, it shouldn't have to take a disaster to implement change. The installation of E.M.A.S at all International Airports is absolutly necessary if we are to prevent anymore disasters on landings at airports.

Thank you and please spread this posting around, so more people can be aware.

The Political Reprecaussions of the Bailouts

Today was the German and Portugese general elections and also the first real test of the Recession and especially the bailouts. In Germany a fiscal Conservative Angela Merkel defeated her Social Democratic rival. In Portugal the governing Socialists won the general election, but lost their majority. What is the meaning of these two elections? Well in Japan the people threw out fifty years of one party rule, and installed more of a left leaning party, why?

Lets start in Japan, the governing party for one assumed they would be in power forever, second they threw billions in bailout money and the companies receiving that money failed anyways and laid off tens of thousands. The party also assumed most people would blame the recession instead of the party and went along as if nothing happened. Then halfway through the campaign the polls showed the people had lost faith, not only in the party but also the system, and the way things were being run. The result a lanslide for the opposition SDP, the LDP had suffered a humiliating defeat, and fifty years of one party rule ended.

In Portugal the governing socialists lost their majority. Why? because they had been involved in bailing out foreign companies, and the job losses continued. The only reason the Socialists stayed in power was because they instituted social reforms that has changed the country. Portugal before the Socialists was one of the poorest nations in Europe. The election was a strong message to socialists everywhere, socialism for the poor not for the banks and the corporations.

In Germany Angela Merkel took the Social Democrats to town. why? because unlike others she didn't give into the pro bailout movement sweeping around the world. No Merkel stuck to her fiscal Conservative principles and didn't give Opel or any other company billions in big business Socialism. Although she's ultra Conservative I can say she deserved to win, oh and the opposition SDP was in her government, so they really couldn't say much. In fact the so called Socialists in Germany were in favour of the bailouts, foolishly following Obama, Brown and others.

So what have these three examples taught us, well for one Communists and far right parties had their best results since the second World War. Second the bailout and the recession played a major factor and in all three examples history repeated itself. In the deepest part of the depression the United States overthrew a President that didn't give money to failing companies, Germany saw gains by both Communism, the Nazi and other fringe parties and strong politicians ruled the day. Makes you think doesn't it? Thanks for reading

Later all.

Why the Green Party is a Fraud

All around the world Green Parties have been springing up like rotten eggs. In Europe we have the Green coalition in their parliament. In the United States we had Ralf Nader as North Americas version of the Green third Party candidate. In Canada of course we presently have Elizabeth May as leader of the Green Party of Canada who made bug strides in getting in the debate this past year, as well as other Provincial Party leaders. What is at the heart of this movement of preported global environnmental change? Are the Green Parties around the world left or right? And finally what is the real motive of these Parties, who is their target? and who are their backers?

Lets start with their history, the first Green Party to contest an election was in New Zealand in the 1972 general election. Since then Green Parties have enveloped the entire globe. The early Green Parties were the underdogs, a group of people forming in communities around the world to fight globalist corporations and their crimes of global porportions. Since that point in time and with a few exceptions in between Green Parties have called on the Governments to cut taxes and spend more and more on the environment as a whole.

The problem with the whole theory of cutting taxes to the point where they only fund the environment is that where do the other Government programs go? Where is the Social responsiblity? Which leads me to my theory that the Green Party has been highjacked from its original intent of helping the environment and insuring that never ends and then going away, into a Party whose intent is to destroy the United Left and or Socialist Parties around the globe. Taking votes from the left wing Parties isn't only the case in Canada or more famously in the United States, but it occurs in every single election in Europe.

In Germany for example the Green Party is part of a coalition with the Socialists as as are the Greens in France, but if those two nations Green Parties voters had voted for the Socialists, neither Angela Merkel nor Nikolas Sarkozy would be in power in those two countries. In my ancestoral country Greece, the Greens came about in 2002, a relatively short period of time, and although they won't be a distraction this time around, in the future I fear Socialism in Greece will be a thing of the past, because of this fraud.

Are the Greens Left or Right, well they say neither, and that they bring all political parties together as one. Well in Greece the Xenophobic Racist Nationalist LAOS Party says the exact same thing, should the Greek people believe what those nutbars say? No and I don't believe what the Green frauds say either. Their Social policy consists of making the University tuition free, and I whole heartedly agree with that policy, but where will this party of "economic sense" get the money to fund this if they cut taxes across the board as they say?

My belief is that the Green Party of Canada and all others have to be described as the right wing phonies they really are. Their right wing economic policies don't mix with their Socialist and left wing beginnings. Don't get me wrong, some elements within the Green Parties are starting to get wind of who exactly is in control of the babies they created for good, and are either revolting within or are fighting externally to expose the fraud that is the modern day Green Party.

Thank You for Reading Tootles.

Time to Regulate it Eh?

With hard economic times as they are for the common man I've decided to take a look at the possible benefits of the legalizing and Government distribution of marijuana. Would a MCBO (Marijuana Control Board of Ontario) or any other control system of any Province really be such a bad idea? During this period of human economic history would such an idea that would take this marketing tool away from the dope dealers really be so harmful for our society? These questions must seriously be looked at by our obviously brain damaged politicians, no offence Andrea Horwath and the rest of the New Democrats.

What would regulation look like, well I'll paint you a picture. Imagine entering an Ontario M.C.B.O and picking from the domestic marijuana labelled on the counter to the left. Imports on the right would obviously cost some more, but never more than what is on the street. A Provincial charge of $8.50 for a dime bag, which means a dollar fifty cheaper than the neighborhood pusher charges for BC bud, who is more and more being squeezed out by big Government, wow time to shed a tear. LOL. While the "little guy" is being sqeezed out by "big bad government" the older population of Ontario which has grown bigger and bigger with the baby boomer generation is enjoying homecare benefits coming from the selling of the products, as is the new mother who has an extra day to recover from giving birth to another productive memeber of society.

This vision of the future of the Ontario health system is a reality if only our current governing pinheads had the gonads to act. The decriminalization at the federal level was a step in the right direction, but legalizing and regulating it would be a step in solving our upcoming health crisis. The money needed to take care of our baby boomer seniors will be enormous and keeping the status quo is not the right answer. That being said the system in Ontario and elsewhere needs to be tightened up. The need will be to strengthen our driving under the influence laws to be tighter on drivers who are caught while driving while being stoned, that is a must.

The amount of Government and other kinds of jobs that will be created will be enormous. In the times that we are in, that is also a must. Another thing that must be done is make marijuana the last legalized substance, I can't understand some elements of the legalization movement that calls on other substances like crack, cocaine etc to be legalized as well. That whole notion discredits the entire legalzation movement as a political force and communal force. The movement is strong at the grass roots ( no pun intended) there is no need for these people to be taken seriously.

I would like to say that under normal circumstances I wouldn't call on legalization, but as I have said before the tough economic times calls for it. Finally I ask all parties to stand behind the movement and legalize marijuana. We are all adults here and this is the 21st Century, lets wake up and do the right thing at the right moment. Thank you.

Later folks.

Question: Is the Recession a Tool for the Greedy?

I like other common people have been hit by the recession. I am jobless and quickly running out of savings in the piggybank. Things are so desperate I now have to go to plan B and look for a job the old fashioned way, actually going to a place of business and giving my Resume. Since the recession started last year towards the end of 2008 and the businesses began laying off people I began questioning the whole process, is this recession being used by these companies, possibly with the help of the Government to destroy not only the jobs of the common man but also to break the modern day union as it's currently structured or possibly destroy them altogether?

I then began looking at how we arrived at this point, the recession had been caused by the meltdown in the subprime mortgage scandle of August to October 2008. Then came the greed at wall street oops it has always been there, sorry folks. The fact that George W Bush was controlling the US economy for eight years didn't help either and when you have the worlds only superpower's wealth being controlled by a moron, well then you have what we have to this date, a complete failure by the private greedy non shelant of society destroying everything for everyone else.

One personal story I have to share first before I move on with my theory on the recession. I was in a similar position in 2003 I needed a job and security wasn't what I wanted to continue to be in, I did have a job then though and thus was looking to improve on my situation. That Easter I met a fellow Greek Canadian at Church, he worked for Primerica, an American firm that dealt in stocks mortgages etc. We went in one day into a seminar where they were teaching us about the market. We got into discussing about the Great Depression, I stood up when it was time for questions and asked the University educated prof like gentleman, do you think it is possible for another similar situation to happen again? and with a look of genuine certainty said "I have no doubt that the market will never let it happen again". I asked again are you sure the markets are regulated enough for a situation similar to the great depression to never happen again and he said "trust me it will never happen again". Well I guess we've seen what a market based theory looks like in 2009 compaired with the greedy times of pre recession.

As the rich get ever fewer in number and the middle class evaporates before our eyes my question again is this what the market has in mind for society, the so called theory of the markets are too high, so lets bring it down so we can restart type of thing. I mean I'm not a specialist on economics but that theory could be possible, but there is another one I would like you to contemplate. What if the businesses along with the mostly right wing Governments around the world are intentionally firing people causing businesses to go under and breaking unions to create another war? Or to enslave the people? The wealthy elite are at the top, their position is not in doubt. The only jobs we can find are those that secure the rich and those that fight their wars overseas. The jobs we used to have are in China, Mexico and some other nations that I doubt even have unions. Even if they do they are chased around and killed like in Columbia, thank you Stephen Harper for that trade agreement.

In closing you might think this theory is way out of wack, but do the research, look at history as a guide into what the intention of the most powerful are. We must unite around the world to say no to these elites, we must fight for rights in China, Mexico etc but only after we gain our full workers right here in our home and native land. Remember the old saying, change begins at home and look in the mirror before judging, but if we don't begin changing other societies ours will be in further limbo. Thank you for reading this post and Good day.

Recognize Foreign Credentials Now!

During the 2008 Federal election campaign my riding Don Valley West was a key battleground for the fight on recognizing foreign credentials. Although my candidate lost I learned a lot from going door to door. The pain and frustrations shown by people with obvious skills able to help Canada in it's time of need and yet unable to procede with their skill because both establishment parties don't see fit to fix this problem.

I understand that Canadian companies and organizations want the full teaching mechanism to be enforced on new Canadians before they are able to work in their field, but eight years to learn the Canadian ethics and laws and standards is quite rediculous at least to me it is. I also don't get how Government believes that allowing this to continue helps Canada's unemployment issue. It has been a year and yet the Canadian Parliament has yet to bring this to a vote and to that I say shame. I have also yet to hear from my member of Parliament Mr Rob Oliphant on this issue. His main argument during the campaign was for foreign credentials to be recognized and yet he has been silent in Parliament on this issue.

Although it is not a big surprise that the establishment parties in Canada have not brought this up for debate, it is a shock though that not even a wisper has been raised except for the NDP and the Bloc Quebecqois. This shameful display by the two establishment parties in Parliament not only on this issue but on others makes me ashamed to call this Government and the opposition my Government. I can only ask the readers that during the next election which is just around the corner throw the bums out and elect a non establishment party to power, only you have that right to exact change in politics, only the people have the power during elections.

This is going to be a short blog but I must also say that our thinking must change before our action does. My favourite quote from the bible is from John the Baptist who said before empires can change, men must change. It is time to legislate through foreign credentials now not later. The last example of what this legislation would achieve is this, and there are hundreds of others but this is the best in my opinion. The homeless that walk our streets obviously have no place to stay and yet new Canadians like the ones in my riding have to live in Government housing because they work as security guards and taxi drivers. If this legislation was pushed threw parliament we wouldn't have to spend money building housing we would already have it.

The homeless off the streets and those who will be benefitted by this will be in the middle class with more money to spend on the economy and thus pumping more money into Canadians wallets or investing in repairing our delapedated social housing. Killing two birds with one stone that's effective government. Thanks for reading, don't be afraid to leave a comment.

Should CCT's Replace Welfare?

Recently I stumbled upon a BBC series look at the validity of the CCT(Conditional Cash Transfers). The host Mishal Hussein was taking a look at the positives and possible negatives of the program. So far the program has been instituted in countries like Chile, Columbia, Mexico, Jamaica and recently a pilot project has been set up in New York City. I intentionally left out Brazil because I have a short personal story to share.

Now the first four countries on the list are not the most richest nor the most unlikely that their Governments would resort to corruption, so the host Ms Hussein posed the question is this blackmail on the part of Governments to win elections and get voters on their side? Well first before I answer that I would like to explain what CCT's are.

Conditional Cash Transfers or CCT's are a system which the Government hands out money to the poorest and the most destitute of society and unlike welfare sends Government workers to do inspections to see if the person or the family is spending the money on things like baby formula, diapers, medicine and other essentials that the money should be used for. The system also helps those receiving the money to find a job and allows the period of CCT's to be extended for that to occur. This also puts the responsibility on the Government to create sustainable jobs that pay enough that the person on CCT's doesn't have to rely on it forever and thus frees the Government to allow someone else struggling to get back on their feet and provide for their family.

I believe these measures must be taken to ensure that during these economic hardships every dollar must be looked after. If we allow the current welfare system to continue the Provinces and even the Nation itself will go bankrupt. Those who abuse the system must be weeded out and those who honestly need help be put at the front of the line. About six years ago my sister married a man named Ronaldo from Brazil, in Brazil it's Bossa Familia ( their version of the CCT program). Bossa Familia is one of the reasons why Brazil went from one of the poorest nations to one of the richest economic powers of the Western world. The nations ability to track where the money was going and thus weeding out the corrupt elements within the previous Government allowed for more investment in housing and programs that even further benefits average Brazillians today.

My brother in law speaks highly of the program and believes a program like Bossa Familia would work wonders in Canada. The poor who want help would not oppose this, only those who look to defraud the system would oppose something this beneficial. Back to the question would this system blackmail poor or working poor to voting for them? Well if the Liberal or Conservative Parties in Canada or in my Province of Ontario instituted this system to replace welfare and thus saving taxpayers money I would definetly at least consider lending my vote to say thank you for finally caring about the poor, working poor and the taxpayer at the same time. As for it actually happening via those two Parties, well that's another story altogether, for another blog I guess. Later folks.

My Support for Arctic Sovereignty

In the most recent Federal NDP convention in the great city of Halifax my party discussed and voted on a motion opposing the "militarization" of the arctic. The motion instead supported the developement of the north into a vibrant part of Canada. I did not support the motion for one reason, it was a motion that doesn't take into account the constant threats that have been made against Canadian territory by the Russian Federation, the United States, Norway as well as Denmark. I want to address the funding and developement first before I get to the military part.
As an NDP supporter I believe in keeping people off the streets and put them into affordable housing and what we are seeing in Iqaluit is really quite sad. The people's of the north must be helped and yes funding for housing and local funding for communities is essential. It is all part of the funding package I would like to see the Federal Government provide along with the military aid. Having a minister from the north in the current Governing party should have initiated action earlier from the Prime Minister and his Conservative Party on the plight of the people of the north, not only as a mere publicity stunt. To say "I feel your pain" means nothing if there is no action behind the words.

Getting back to the NDP motion. First to call it militarization is quite empty. How can you militarize something that doesn't have a foundation from the begining. Before the Russians planted their flag at the bottom of the Arctic floor and the Danes threatened Hans island and the Norweigen fishing vessels came out to the east coast and even before the United States began sniffing for oil when they heard the ice caps were melting Canada's Government and the other parties didn't even discuss this outrageous lack of detterant forces in the north. I opposed the motion because even though it supported the poor neglected peoples of the north, I do believe it went too far in condeming at least a small detachment to serve as a deterrant to those external forces that want to annex parts of Canadian soil for their selfish purposes.

My alternative would be to purchase the much needed icebreakers but also to hire people from the north and pay them to protect their land. The peoples of the north are as patriotic as the next canuck, so lets give them the tools to protect and cultivate their lands. That means give them the resources and get out of the way. I do believe the Federal Government has a role to play in the north, but not to intrude when it is politically viable like the Conservatives are doing.

Finally I think my party dropped the ball on this one and I hope our future isn't affected by this decision. My belief as a Canadian Nationalist is that Canada should feed, clothe and protect its own people from all dangers, both internal and especially externally. Although terrorism is a big threat, the threat posed by established nations is greater to Canadian territorial Sovereignty than any bomb strapped terrorist will ever be.

Canadian Space Agency A Waste of Money?

In recent days two Canadians were in the news because space shuttle Columbia had one of its last flights. On board was Canadian Julie Payette, and on the International Space Station was Bob Thirsk. Now the rant I am about to throw is aimed at neither Mrs Payette nor Mr Thirsk, nor at any other Canadian Astronaut there has ever been, except Marc Garneau who is in Ottawa perpetuating the myth that Canada can be a leader in the "space adventure" I call a big waste. No my rant is at the Canadian Government and the CSA, no not the Canadian Soccer Association but the Canadian Space Agency, who's biggest achievement thus far since 1990 is to design the Canadarm a piece of equipment that is so out of date it's going to be retired when the International Space Station is retired in 2016.

Untill then the Government of Canada is going to be dolling out 110 million dollars a year on this worthless agency that doesn't have its astronauts take off from Canada, no they take off on American ships and on American territory. Imagine that 110 million dollars of Canadians tax money(according to government of Canada 2009 budget figures) going out to an agency who's purpose is what exactly? can someone please explain what is the purpose of the CSA? what possible benefit do the Canadian people have in dolling out 110 million dollars of their hard earned tax money for this worthless crap? could it be because we are looking for life outside of earth? Well according to many Western governments there has never been any indication of any non plant activity on planets we can get to and those are few in number.

Even if we could get to those planets we probably wouldn't find anything remote to what as children we thought was possible. I don't know about you but when I was young going to the Ontario Science Centre and speaking to astronauts live from space was a cool thing because we as kids dreamed of one day going to other planets and not only living there but also meeting other life forms. Instead as I got older and my brain developed to that of an adult I began to wonder what is the use.

What is the use of paying for outdated equipment being fixed, missions paid for by tax payers while the common man and woman during this reccession tortured themselves to put food on their table not for themselves but for their children at least, only to see their money pissed away because of some archaic ideal. During the Cold War this was a way to fight with innovation instead of weapons, the US against the USSR in a perverbial Space dual. Well my friends time has passed into the 21st century and today we have the climate war we must fight and we also have the Green movement and the innovation should flow through that not this outdated dinosaur.

My proposal is simple, end the CSA's existence or privitize it. If you get rid of it then re-train the workers to work on new Green technologies so that our world will be better through innovation just like the original intent of the Space war ideal was. If you privatize it Canadian tax payers must never again be forced to pay for such a useless venture ever again.

Canadian Healthcare: the truth

In recent weeks we've been seeing the debate in the United States rage on about what to do with the state of their healthcare system. Currently as it stands the States has a healthcare that basically consists of private insurance companies controlling the distribution and the payment of the service. With the stories of patients having to choose which finger to save because of the cost is scary to me as a Canadian. To hear though the American media lambasting the Canadian system is abhorent. Switch on your TV these days in the States and you'll find stations like MSNBC, CNN and of course the most dispicable of all Fox News attacking the scarry "Socialized" medicine in England and especially Canada.

Before I speak the truth about Canada's "scarry" system I would like two things off my chest, one I personally don't care what Americans do with their system that's up to them to decide, so I don't want to hear Americans complaining about Canadians sticking their nose in their affairs. Two I have no liking of President Obama and his policies, I believed in what he was running for but currently has done nothing to solve the problems internationally that the Bush Administration and his predacessors created. Thirdly I've heard the system in England is even better than ours, so don't knock if you can't enter.

The story of our system begins with one man Tommy Douglas. The man voted greatest Canadian was voted so because of creating the "Evil" Government Healthcare system even though he was never our Prime Minister. He did this as Premier of Saskatchewan in the 1950's and when he became Premier(our equivelant of Governor) in the 1920's the Province out west was the most backward corrupt provinces in the country. There were no roads or even working indoor plumbing. Even worse than that the provinces health was one of the worst in the western world. When TC Douglas proposed the idea of Universal Health for all Sakatchewanites the private industry in the province virtually crucified him. Names like Communist and monster and even worser names. Within fifteen years Tommy beat the doctors, the system and healthcare was not only available in his home province but in the rest of Canada. The Canada health act was signed by Lester B Pearson in the 1960's after all ten Provinces and two Territories finally approved the measure.

Before Tommy's crusade his province and the country was like the US system today, run by greedy profiteers and the Government did nothing to stop it. In fact what turned Tommy on to the crusade he would spend most of his life fighting for was the fact that when he was a child Tommy contracted Osteomyelitis a rare form of skin disease in which his leg had to be amputated beacuse his parents couldn't afford to treat it. The reason why his family couldn't afford the money to pay for it was because they had no insurance, sound familiar?Thankfully a doctor approached the working poor family and offered to do the surgery for free and have little Tommy be his patient for his students to lean how surgeries were done. In laments terms Tommy was a test subject because his family couldn't afford healthcare. Tommy learned his lesson at a young age and when he became Premier he changed everything for the good.

Today our system works fine, The woman on American TV from Canada saying she had to go to the "great system" in the States was from Alberta, and as all of us in Canada know Alberta hardly counts as Canada LOL, just kidding. Seriously her surgery was delayed because a lot of people need surgery and people are called specialists and get paid more money for a reason. Even in the US where people like that dumbass woman from Alberta can afford to pay for immediate surgery is on a waiting list, why? because specialist have other surgeries to attend to as well. Anyways I would rather use my healthcard than my credit card thank you very much.

Finally why would anyone want to live in a system that only treats the wealthy and leaves everyone else in the cold? Only rich people like that dumbass on those Conservative commercials that's who. Americans woke up and finally elected an African-American President, let's hope for their sake they adopt Universal Healthcare. Thank you.

Asbestos out

Recently I saw a documentary that focused on the fact that Canadian companies are still producing and selling asbestos, but not to Canadians no but to third world nations like India. I also heard that the Canadian Government also gives these companies twenty million dollars a year to basically slowly murder thousands of third world peoples around the world. Asbestosis is the leading killer in India today more than aids and cancer combined. These facts shocked and sickened me to the core. The most sickening fact though was that one of these companies named in the CBC doc used the twenty million dollars to defend itself against a French woman who sued the company(LAB Crysolite), yes they used the money to hire lawyers to counter sue the woman who was infected with asbestosis.

In the 1960's Asbestos was the new gold discovered, overnight companies sprung up like wild fires, about twenty years later though governments and especially doctors began raising alarm bells because of the harmfull elements involved in mining and producing asbestos as well as the harmfull dust that it produced in lungs called asbestosis, it killed hundreds of thousands of people in that time frame. By the late 1980's most governments in the western world had banned asbestos and had put it on the backburner as to discuss its possible elimination from the marketplace. Some twenty years after the ban though the killer asbestos is still taking lives today.

In India the people are looking for jobs any jobs especially in the slums where education is non existant and the people start working as young as eight just to feed their families. LAB Crysotile is one of those companies based just outside Quebec City that has been dolling out asbestos to poor Indians on Canadians tax money. Twenty million dollars a year goes to LAB Crysolite, and for me that means my hard earned money goes to murder innocent poor Indians. These people in the slums handle the asbestos with their hands with little or no protection to their hands or face. Like I said before more deaths in India that aids and cancer combined, deaths that are easilly preventable.

As a Canadian I am outraged at the fact that these people use Canadian workers, Canadian land and Canadian tax money to institute indirect murder. The consecutive Liberal and Conservative Governments have had twenty years to ban LAB Crysolite and hundreds of other such companies from doing business but have ignored the problem. Now I don't know if it's stupidity or just plain negligence on the part of the Government but this has to change. I'm calling right now to the end of the use of Canadian land for the purpose of murder by the asbestos industry. For those unions supporting this deadly industry if you really support workers rights you will immedietly stop suppoting LAB Crysolite and other such criminal enterprises.

Both the Government and these companies have had twenty years to stop this practise and it still continues, stop now or some action must be taken by the populace that you will not be able to stop. My only question is this,if it's not good for the Western world what makes it okay for the third world? Is racism or is something else laying underneath these criminal ventures.

About Time Don't You Think?

It came to my attention not too long ago that Canada's political system has not been keeping up with the fact that it is 2009. During the most recent parliamentary crisis in which the Prime Minister prorogued Parliament at the consensus of the Govenor General I finally realized the calling of my political generation, it is time for Canada to declare itself a Democratic Republic with a President as its head of state. Stephen Harper was trying to save his own ass as Canadians we all know that, as an opponent of Mr Harpers Neo-Con thinking I believe he was acting in intrests of the survival of his government. What Michaelle Jean on the other hand did was to legitimise the Harper Governments blatent attempt at governmental survival.

Ms Jean a Haitian born immigrant success story must have realized the implication of her decision. Now I'm not blaming Ms Jean I am only attacking the system and its clear violation of Democratic principles. The fact that the Prime Minister can go on national tv and blame the crisis on the Separatists and call on the GG to suspend parliament is unpresedented. That was shocking but the fact that the Queen a non Canadian citizen is our head of state and the fact that nobody in this country elected her or Michaelle Jean is the most shocking thing.

The Queen and Mrs Jean are two very nice and loving people I am sure of that but the fact that neither of them is elected pisses me off. As Canadians we dropped the ball on this one allowing for this to happen instead of getting on to the streets and demanding more accountability of our political system. Canada has been declared a constitutional monarchy since our foundation with the BNA for those who forgot your history that is when the British Empire gave partial control of Canada back to mostly English-Canadians as well as French and then of course the poor Natives who got diddly squat but that's another blog for another time. The problem with the British North America Act was that Canadian politicians had to approve constitutional changes in London England.

In the 1981 though Pierre Trudeau as an act to preserve his legacy brought the Canadian constitution back, but again he had to get the Queen to sign off on it. The point I'm making is that Canada has fallen way behind other nations in modernizing its political structure and the way it operates. The time for Canada falling into line for other nations must stop and it must stop now. The only way for Canada to declare independence and to separate itself from foreign influences that control its political and economic structures is to declare Canada a Republic.

Thank you sincerly Marcos Zottas hope to hear your opinions.
